EARLY LIFE
Navniet was born on 22 October 1971 in a middle-class peasant family in Etah, Uttar Pradesh to Manohar Sing Sekera.
He did his schooling at All-Boys government school in the Etah district of UP. Then he passed the IIT entrance exam and got into IIT Roorkee. After that, he joined IIT Delhi to complete his Masters but in between, he dropped out of the course and started preparing for civils.
He cleared his UPSC exam in the first attempt and joined Indian Police Services in 1996. He was allotted his home cadre, his first posting was in Gorakhpur as ASP Assistant Superintendent of Police.
Navniet completed his MBA in Finance, Strategy, and Leadership in the year 2011. He cleared the GMAT exam after serving for 14 years.
PERSONAL LIFE
Navniet comes from a farming family. His father Manohar Sing Sekera passed away in January 2020.
His wife Dr.Puja Thakur Sekera is a Motivational Speaker, Social Activist, Counsellor for Empowering Women Against Harassment, and Philanthropist. She was the founder of “Mission Sashakt”, which works for the empowerment of women.
The couple have 2 children Devyansh Sekera (son) and Aryan Sekera (daughter)
CAREER
As said above Navniet joined Indian Police Service in 1996. After two years of training at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad then he was posted as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Gorakhpur. Later he was transferred to Meerut in Dec 1998.
In 2001 he got promoted to Superintendent of Police and his first posting as SP was Railway Police at Moradabad and then as SP, Technical Services.
Further, he served as SSP in many districts. Later he got promoted to the post of DIG (Deputy Inspector General of Police) in 2012 and then to IG rank after 2 years in 2014.
At present he is the Inspector General of Women Power Line, Uttar Pradesh.
There was a web series named “Bhaukaal” the story was taken from Navniet real-life incidents. This series showed how brave Navniet is.

Navniet has received many awards and appreciation for his bravery her are few awards which he received are Chief Minister’s Reward for Innovation, President’s Police Medal for distinguished service, President’s Police Medal, Director General’s Commendation Disc Sliver, and Director General’s Commendations Disc Gold.
