Fatima Sana Shaikh is the popularly known Indian beautiful Bollywood Actress and Model. She is also a professional photographer.
Fatima Sana made her debut as child artist in the film “Chachi 420” in which she appeared in the role Bharti Ratan, playing as Tabu (Janki Paswan) and Kamal Hassan’s (Jai Prakash Paswan) daughter in 1997.
Fatima Sana Shaikh is well-known for her role as Geeta Phogat (an Indian wrestler who brought India’s First Gold Medal in wrestling at 2010 Common Wealth Games) in Bollywood’s one of the most successful blockbuster film “Dangal” in 2016.
She made her Television debut on 16 March 2009, on Zee TV’s daily soap “Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo” in which she played a negative role of Suman.
She was born on 11 January 1992 in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. She is 27 years old as in 2019. She was born into a Hindu Brahim family and follows the Islam religion. Currently, she lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She is called with a name Fatty by her family and friends.
Her parents are the father, Vipan Sharma, who is a Hindu and belongs to Jammu, whereas her mother, Raj Tabbasum is a Muslim lady who belongs to Srinagar. In the 1980s, her father relocated to Mumbai and got married to Raj Tabassum in Mumbai.
Fatima Sana Shaikh did her schooling from St. Xavier High School, Mumbai. She completed her graduation from Mithibai College located in Mumbai. Her passion for acting was since her childhood and always wanted to act in movies.
Her dream of acting came true with the movie “Chachi 420” at a very young age. She was loved and appreciated by everyone for her acting skills in the film. She has acted in “One 2 Ka 4” in 2001, which was the second film of her career.
She appeared as Jackie Shroff’s daughter in the movie starring prominent actors Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla. Later, she appeared as Zoya in the film “Tahaan” in 2008. After that, she got several opportunities in soap operas and TV shows.
She also did various films such as Bade Dilwala, Bittoo Boss (2012), Table No. 21, and Akaash Vaani (2013). But, she didn’t gain any notable characters in the Indian Film Industry.
At the beginning of 2015, she decided to quit her acting dream as she didn’t get any offer even after giving plenty of auditions. She decided to begin a new chapter of her life and started working as a cinematographer.
In the same year, she made her debut with the Telugu film “Nuvvu Nenu Okkatavudam!” and also Tamil film debut with the movie “O Kadhal Kanmani” in 2015.
In 2015, after a long struggle, she got the best opportunity for her career as she got selected to play a lead role, Geeta Phogat in the highest grossing movie of 2016, Dangal, where she was selected after six rounds of audition. This movie was the first hit and a great turning point of her career and with this film, she came into the limelight instantly.
In 2016, she appeared in Karan Johar’s famous show “Koffee with Karan” with Aamir Khan and Sanya Malhotra. In the show, she revealed the hurdles faced in her life that she was jobless for three years before she got selected for the movie Dangal.
In the year 2017, she was offered with another super hit movie “Thugs of Hindustan”, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, and Katrina Kaif in lead roles.
In 2018, she was honored with the “Best Action Actress Award” for the movie “Dangal” at the 4th Jackie Chan Action Movie Week in China.
During the shooting of Dangal, she stayed along with Sanya Malhotra, Zaira Wasim, and Suhani Bhatnagar for 6 months at Aamir Khan’s apartment in Mumbai.
To achieve the requirements of her role for the movie, she took a rigid training for almost 6 months. She used to follow an accurate routine which includes the gym, wrestle for 3 hours, have lunch, learns the Haryanvi language, have dinner, and then sleep.
While rehearsing for a wrestling scene for Dangal, she met with an ankle fracture, due to misjudging the timing. Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana became very good friends after getting the Dangal.
They spent a lot of time together even after the release of the film that few of their friends started talking that they both are dating each other.
She is a good photographer. She had worked as a photographer in a studio and also assisted as a cinematographer for a couple of ads. Apart from being an actress and photographer, she is a brilliant dancer too. She is also an art lover. She has various collections of drawings and sketching of hers.
