Zoya Akhtar Biography
Zoya Akhtar is a well-known Indian film director and screenwriter who have presented several commercially successful films to the Indian showbiz industry.
She is the daughter of famous lyricist and scriptwriter, Javed Akhtar. She has come from a filmy family for which Zoya has been able to get a reputation, actually through her good work.
She started her career as a directing from the movie “Luck By Chance” starring some of the famous actors and actresses such as Faran Akhtar, Konkona Sen Sharma, Hrithik Roshan and more.
She has worked as a director and assistant director in the movies “Bombay Talkies”, “Dil Chahta Hai”, and “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” along with the stars Amir Khan, Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra and so on.
Zoya Akhtar was born on 14 October 1972 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Zoya is a daughter of legend Javed Akhtar and screenwriter Honey Irani. She is one of the elegant bachelors of India.
She completed her degree of arts from St. Xavier’s College and later she joined the New York University Film School for film production. She is a cousin of Farah Khan and Sajid Khan.
She is close to the famous director Karan Johar. It is also rumoured that they were in a secret relationship once and were spotted together in many parties and events.

After working a long time for Reema Kagti’s Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. as an executive producer, she made her own directorial debut from the movie “Luck By Chance”.
Though the movie could not hit the box office, her next directed movie “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” was well received by the viewers and the critics. Also, she was awarded by Film fare Award for Best Director too.
Besides this, she has directed “Bombay Talkies”, “Dil Dhadakne Do” and has appeared on small screen advertisement for brands such as Finolex and Pepsi.
Zoya has won many awards and nominations for different movies which include Filmfare Awards, Tokyo International Film Festival Awards, and Awards of International Indian Film Academy.
She has also appeared in the Valentine’s Day charity show “Kaun Banega Crorepati” with her brother Farhan Akhtar. Her next directed flick movie “Gully Boy” starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt which was a most awaited movie by the viewers and which was released in 2018 and got a huge success.
