Shilpa Shinde is one of the most popular Indian Television Actress, who is featuring in Hindi serials. She has stolen the hearts of viewers with her brilliant acting skills. She made her first television debut in 1999 but came into the limelight for her role in Star Plus’s soap opera Bhabi (2002-08).
Shilpa Shinde is popularly known for her role playing Angoori Bhabi in & TV’s serial “Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai”, a comedy serial. She had quit the show in early 2016. She also portrays in Marathi and South Indian films as an actress.
In addition to her acting in television, she played a small role in two Telugu movies named “Chhina”, which was directed by Dasari Narayana Rao and another movie “Shivani”, directed by Suresh Verma.
Shilpa Shinde was born on 28 August 1977 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She was born into a middle-class Scheduled caste Hindu-Marathi family of Mumbai. She brought up and completed her schooling in Mumbai.
Her father Dr. Satyadeo Shinde was an advocate and worked as a judge in a High court. He was died in 2013 due to Alzheimer’s disease. Her mother Geeta Shinde is a home-maker. Because of her father died, Shilpa went into depression.
She has one younger brother and two elder sisters. Her brother Ashutosh Shinde and sisters Shubash Shinde, Archana Shinde.
She completed her schooling in Mumbai and continued higher qualification in Psychology from K.C.College. But she failed to obtain her bachelor’s degree. Her father’s desire is to see her as a law student, but Shinde wasn’t interested in studying that subject.
She was always interested to become an actress, but her family was against it. After completion of graduation, she decided to begin her career in media and started acting in TV serials.
In 1999, she made her debut portraying a negative role in the serial Bhabhi, which were telecasted in Star Plus. Later she also appeared in some notable serials Amrapali, Meher and Hari Mirchi Lal Mirchi (2002).
She met actor Romit Raj on the sets of TV show Maayka (2007–2009). They both started dating each other soon afterward. They were engaged to be married in 2009 but the wedding was called off when she was unable to meet the demands of Romit and his family.
She felt that he could not be the adjusting husband and that she would not get the space she requires after the marriage. She openly discussed her problems with Romit, but the things got worse when she felt that he insulted her family and did not give then any priority. All this resulted in Shilpa Shinde calling off the marriage.
She also got a chance to act in Marathi movies. But, she failed to impress the audience with her role in the films. So that she decided to work full time in the TV serials.
Recently, she made an item song in the film “Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi” in 2017. She starred in the serial “Kabhi Aaye Na Judai” from 2001-2003. Later, she played a role of Chitra in Sanjeevani in 2002. In the same year, she played the role in Amrapali (2002).
In 2004, she continued to play another role in the show Miss India. In January 2004, she played the similar lead as Meher in DD National’s show “Meher-Kahani Haq Aur Haqeeqat Ki” till January 2006.
She then was appeared in Betiyaan Apni Yaa Parayaan Dhan as Veera, Hari Mirchi Laal Mirchi, and Waaris as Gayatri. Shinde’s breakthrough role was Koyal Narayan in SAB TV’s serial “Chidiya Ghar” beside Paresh Ganatra.
She quit the show in March 2013 due to problems in her personal life and was replaced by Shubhangi Atre, who played the part for a year. Atre had to leave the show when Shinde decided to return in June 2014 but in September of the same year, she decided to quit again.
Shinde said that she was promised a lot of things and told that the character will have an interesting graph. But, the producer has failed to keep his promise. Since she wasn’t too happy with the track, she decided to quit the show. She was permanently replaced by Baal Veer actress Aditi Sajwan.
In January 2015, it was reported that she had been approached to play the lead role in &TV’s new serial “Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai!” She was initially cast to play a glamorous neighbor “Anita Mishra”, but later had to play the simple housewife, Angoori Tiwari, when the actress Rashami Desai, who had had been cast to play Angoori, opted out due to her personal reasons.
Shinde became a household name with her portrayal of Angoori Bhabhi in “Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai”, but she quit in March 2016 after having several issues with the makers and accusing them of mentally torturing her.
She was replaced by Shubhangi Atre in April 2016, who had also replaced her in Chidiya Ghar in 2014. Atre cited this fact as a mere coincidence.
In October 2017, she entered the television’s top reality show “Bigg Boss 11” as a contestant. In the house, she shared an unpleasant relationship with one of her fellow contestants Vikas Gupta, who is the programming head of &TV.
They both often fought on the show but their relationship became much more passionate towards the end of it. They both were the finalists of the show along with the actress Hina Khan and businessman Puneesh Sharma.
